The Behavioral Health Workforce:
The Impact of Opioid/SUD Overdose Loss

This training is offered live or virtually through Zoom. Deb Rhoades, a Best Practice Trainer and member of the InUnity Trainer Registry, will facilitate this 8-hour training. For participants attending via Zoom, it is essential to have both audio and video capabilities and to engage fully throughout the session.
This Rhoades to Recovery Training is recognized by InUnity-NYCB for CRPA and CARC Continuing Education renewal hours, as well as for CARC Electives (Initial Certification). Additionally, it is approved by NYS OASAS for CASAC, CPP, and CPS Renewal Hours. Social Work Continuing Education hours can be requested as needed.
This 8 hour training is designed to address traumatic Opioid/Substance Use Overdose loss and its impact on the behavioral health workforce (Addiction Treatment/Prevention Professionals, Mental Health professionals and Peer Recovery Professionals.)
During this training participants will:
- explore the scope of the Opioid/SUD overdose problem
- learn overdose prevention/risk management and postvention strategies
- develop an understanding of grief and traumatic loss impact and the types of grief/losses including disenfranchised grief and factors that impact grief reactions.
- explore the impact of these losses on clinicians and peer professionals and provide an understanding of compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, and burnout.
- develop strategies to increase self-compassion, self-care/wellness and will provide participants with a variety of tools that they can bring back to their work settings.
